No Judgments, Just Jesus

How Long, O Lord? Protest Songs for God’s People (Psalm 13)

What we do with our painful feelings, frustrations with circumstances, or disappointments with God? The people of Israel possessed a worship manual full of prayers and hymns – the book of Psalms – that guided them in embracing and expressing all of their feelings to God, both good and bad, despairing and hopeful, protesting and praising. The reason: It is impossible to have an authentic relationship with God if we refuse to express our honest feelings. It is because of our deep trust in God’s unfailing covenant love that we can be completely open with God and ourselves.

Opening Hymn: Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above
Closing Doxology: Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow
