Forced Foolishness: The Razor’s Edge of Self-Defense (2 Corinthians 12:11-21)

Though the Apostle Paul knew that bragging of one’s accomplishments was the stuff of fools, he is backed into a corner, and forced to speak like a fool and “toot his own horn” in order to defend himself against the super-apostles’ accusations against him. In the end, he makes it clear that all this “foolish talk” was not for his own sake – to strut about, commend himself, or pat himself on the back – but for the benefit of the Corinthians, that they might know his deep love for them and his model of serving in weakness rooted in the strength of God.
