Monday 3pm Prayer
O God,
I come to you now as a child to my Mother,
out of the cold which numbs, into the warm who cares.

Listen to me inside,
under my words where the shivering is,
in the fears which freeze my living,
in the angers which chafe my attending,
in the doubts which chill my hoping,
in the events which shrivel my thanking,
in the pretenses which stiffen my loving.

Listen to me, Lord, as a Mother, and hold me warm, and forgive me. Soften my experiences into wisdom, my pride into acceptance, my longing into trust, and soften me into love and to others and to you. Amen.

Prayer

Dear Merciful Lord…you are the Living Water that we thirst…you are the Bread of Life that we hunger for…thank you for inviting us to come… We have come to this river today as your people, with our own thoughts, our own passions, and our own ideals; unique individuals that you created with your hands. However, we also gather united as your children and united in prayer; for you hold us all together in the palm of those same hands that created us.  We invite you into our hearts and minds to hear our thoughts and petitions and to cleanse us of all that is not pleasing unto you.

For our world, where there is war and peace, hatred and love; hear our prayers O Lord…

For our country and those who lead; hear our prayers O Lord…

For our communities, and all who serve and are served; hear our prayers O Lord…

For our church family, those in the midst of struggle and those who are celebrating; hear our prayers O Lord…

For our friends and relatives whose lives surround us and shape our days; hear our prayers O Lord…

For ourselves, broken as we are; hear our prayers O Lord…

Jesus, we have chosen to start this day, on the river bank with you…you have heard what has been said and you know what is kept secure in our hearts; that in itself is a gift, but you don’t stop there, we believe that you not only listen, you respond.  For this we give thanks, and ultimately say, Thy Will Be Done. In your name we pray, Amen.
